Vitamix
My Ninja is slowly dying, and I am thinking our next blender will be a vitamix.
Do you have one? What do you like and not like about it? Which model do you have? What do you make with it? Do you have the dry container, and do you use it if you do?

Re: Vitamix
I have one. It was not my idea to get it. Hubs thought we "needed" it. I have grown to enjoy it's ability. I am by no means a vita-mixer-supreme and do not give it opportunity to do it's full range of abilities. I like it. I should love it. I have the dry and like doing that for making quinoa flour et al.

Re: Vitamix
I love my vitamix! We don't do dry as we have no need (we only use pamelas gf flour)!
We make tons of soups and smoothies and drinks (ocffee drinks mixed drinks)! I make coconut butter and that's about all I can think of!! We used to do veggie/fruit blends but I really prefer my juicer for that purpose and we do better w o a massive amount of fiber like that!

Re: Vitamix
The soups are absolutely amazing.
I wish mine fit under the cabinet. There is a newer model that does. I don't have the dry container, either (another Pamela's fan!). I used to make all kinds of nut butters but we're kind of off nut butters lately. |

Re: Vitamix
Were the nut butters quick to make? I have a food processor that does an okay job, but it takes five plus minutes, and even then it isn't super creamy. I am pretty sure trying to make almond butter is what started my ninja going down hill.

Re: Vitamix
I have a Blendtec, which is the most similar to a Vitamix. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them.
And you'll find that the difference between a Vitamix/Blendec and any other less expensive blender is simply unbelievable. I thought I had a decent blender before, but no... I'd never buy a cheaper blender again. Everything is smooth and there are never any chunks of anything. Nuts, raw vegetables, it's always smooth. I make smoothies, soups, ice cream, dips, spreads, coffee drinks, adult drinks, juices with whole fruit/veggies that are smooth and not chunky. |

Re: Vitamix
Mine is about ten years old and going strong. I love it.
I blend parts of soups, make smoothies and sorbets, nut and seed milks, salad dressings. I like the food processor better for nut and coconut butter, but using a Vitamix is certainly possible. I probably need to get a shorter container, I just have the tall one and I haven't justified the purchase yet. |

Re: Vitamix
Nut butters go really fast. Maybe 1 minute?
Another thing--I've had my Vitamix about 6 years. We noticed an odor of motor oil when using it just recently. I figured I needed to lube it or something so I call them up to find out what kind of oil to use. They sent me a new cannister, no charge.

Re: Vitamix
I had a ninja too and it could not do nut butters like a high powered blender does! (I went with blend
Tec because of the new twister jar makes nut butter making super easy!!). We make... Hummus Guacamole But butter dips for fruit Cashew coffee creamer Nut milks Making a raw cashew cheese cake today Smoothies Sorbets Mix batters for cookies, waffles Berry syrups Soups Salad dressings I pretty much use my blender 1-3times a day for various things!

Re: Vitamix
Love love love it - it was the big purchase with our tax refund one year. Not sure of the model, it was several years ago, but it was a refurbished one so we got it for a little less. We need to replace the container, because it appears to have a crack in it, but it's not leaking or doing anything else too problematic so it's not on the top of our list of to-do's.
We didn't get the dry container but we have a Kitchenaid with a grainmill and we love that too, so it's not been a big deal. We make breakfast drinks every day with orange juice, protein powder, spinach and frozen fruit and it turns it all into a slushie without giant chunks. We make our own nut butters sometimes. We don't hesitate to use it to grind ice (all of our other blenders, even the one we got because it said it would do ice, have been spotty at best - one just broke when we tried to do it). We have used it to make ice cream and soup and while it worked great, we don't seem to do that a lot. We do use it to cream soups we make in the crock pot and to blend refried beans There is not one moment I've regretted getting it. It was well worth the money and has more than paid for itself

I am sold! Probably be a while before I actually get one, but I am definitely getting a fancy blender next time.

Re: Vitamix
I lerve mine, too.
I get my carb and cheese lovin' LOs to eat all kinds of things in smoothies...including hemp powders, vitamin boosters, chia, keifer... And I'm not gonna lie...*I* would never sit and eat all the stuff I put in a smoothie. Too much eating!!! I've not ventured beyond hummus, though. Looks like I need to hit up Pinterest!!! You've all inspired me! |
