We don't normally have them in the house, but we had a cookout and have some left. What can I do with hotdogs other than a hotdog? Lol

Wrap in crescent roll dough and bake
Beenie weenie (as much fun to talk about as it is to eat ) Cut in rounds, mix into cornbread batter for "corn dog pie" (one of those dishes most beloved by the under twelve set ) Cut up and add to mac & cheese

Slice them up and serve them mixed in homemade mac and cheese.
cut in with beans. I love the recommendation of baking them in dough. that's super good.

We used to slice them into a frying pan and fry with tomatoes and onions and serve in a corn tortilla

Re: What to do with hotdogs?
I put them in desperado casserole (aka I need to shop yesterday) which is some kind of rice, kidney beans, whatever leftover meat type food I have around, diced peppers, all baked with some cheese on top. DH eats it.

Re: What to do with hotdogs?
In case you are ever in that situation again, a well loved breakfast by my Mexican husband is scrambled eggs and hot dogs. Preferably eaten in a tortilla. Not my favorite.

Re: What to do with hotdogs?
For next time, consider Spaghetti Monsters.
Basically, you either cut them up or leave them whole, depending on what you want to do, and then shove dry spaghetti through them to make "limbs" or "tentacles", and then boil them. And voilą, you have hotdog pieces with legs... |

Re: What to do with hotdogs?
If they are nitrate- and nitrite-free, boil them and save the broth for other recipes, then add the cut-up hot dogs to mac'n'cheese, baked beans, etc.
Here's the favorite at our house, though: DAY 1: Make hot dogs with homemade buns (not being an overachiever here--I just like buns that don't fall apart in my hands!!!). Panfry the dogs instead of boiling them, for that yummy browned flavor. But before you start the hot dogs, take another skillet and put a layer of carrot coins in it. Add just enough water to come almost up to the top of the carrot coins, and a pat of butter. Boil just until al dente. Now cover the carrots with shredded green cabbage--enough to heap up past the rim of the skillet--turn the heat down to Medium, and put on the lid. In 10 minutes or so the cabbage will have cooked down some. Stir it around, season generously with dill or caraway or what you like, salt to taste, and cook just until the seasoning is fragrant. DAY 2: Chop the leftover hot dogs and leftover braised cabbage'n'carrots and heat all together in the same pan. Serve on hot dog buns, whole wheat toast, or boiled potatoes.
