Peanut Butter Tip
I've been buying natural peanut butter for years, but no matter how much stirring I do at the beginning, toward the middle of the jar to the end, I have dry peanut butter that won't spread well on bread. Is there a trick to smooth peanut butter through the whole jar of natural peanut butter?

I store it upside down until ready to use.

Stir it and then store it in the fridge.

Re: Peanut Butter Tip
I don't like cold peanut butter so I stir it really well each time I use it. I buy it in 9 lb. tubs so it lasts awhile and it is still creamy at the bottom.
If your grocery store sells freshly ground peanut butter, that is the best. It takes awhile for the oil to separate. When it's fresh, it doesn't need to be stirred. |

Re: Peanut Butter Tip
I do store it in the fridge after it's opened. I forgot about the upside down trick. I will try it on a new jar of peanut butter and see what happens. It makes sense that it would make it more creamier all throughout the jar.

Re: Peanut Butter Tip
we make our own peanut butter using JUST peanuts (sometimes I do like honey roasted for a "sweeter change" and nothing else just let the food processor grind it down till nice and smooth about 4-5 minutes. We store this in the fridge mostly because I like mine a bit thick and it gets too runny for my taste at room temperature especially in our warmer weather. However this also eliminates to siring. No separation of oils etc it stays like no stir natural peanut butter from the store but tastes better.

Re: Peanut Butter Tip
I was also going to suggest storing it upside down. Works well here!

Re: Peanut Butter Tip
We get the big jars from Costco, and when I first open it I dump he whole thing in my kitchen aid mixer and make sure every last bit is mixed perfectly. Dump it back in the jar and it's perfect to the end! But we go through PB fast here.. Not sure how it would be if it sat for a long time...

Re: Peanut Butter Tip
Upside down
Tip for that, though . . . you might want to put a paper or regular plate under it in case someone doesn't put the lid on tight enough

Re: Peanut Butter Tip
So are you saying to leave it upside down to store once the jar has been opened as well as before?

Re: Peanut Butter Tip
I put one beater on my hand held mixer and mix it on a fairly low setting.

I haven't found that to be necessary as long as it's in the fridge.

Re: Peanut Butter Tip
I only leave it upside down before. Once it has been opened and stirred, I keep it right side up in the refrigerator.
