It just makes me so upset and angry. I'm also glad this information is coming out so more people can see that spanking does have serious impacts on children. I was talking to my mother the other day about how I'm handling the boys when Ds1 hits Ds2. She knows we don't spank. She is coming around to GD and even talked about how spanking affected her growing up. I even told her how her hitting affected me. After all of that she still said that "some kids just need to be beat".
The host of a radio show read the article and asked his listeners to call in. He then said he'll be back after he beats his daughters (another word for behind). I don't typically listen to him because of his crassness and I immediately changed the station. I did not want to hear what the callers had to say.

I would love to share this on Facebook but I don't have the energy to deal with debate.

Thanks for sharing this article. I know someone who exhibits this perfectly. And now she has a daughter (after having a son with a 15 year old boy when she was 23). Her children are being raised in the same harsh environment that she was raised in. It's heartbreaking to watch.

I was sexually harrased and molested by a supervisor at work-and when I finally for the guts to tell the general manager (who was also an elder at church) he told me to quit asking for it. I just accepted that because part of me wondered if I hadn't secretly wanted it because I wasn't as scared as what I thought I should have been from reading stories and stuff-and I felt connected to him.. Even though it was a creepy connection.. Now I realize that it wasn't my fault-that I did say no repeatedly and even try to get help-but at the time I thought I didn't know my own heart and that I just felt guilty for behaving so sinfully so I wasn't admitting that I did it, even to myself.

I read parts of the article that I could handle. I have friends who have been circulating it on Facebook and I've avoided the comments sections because of my own background and not wanting to read heated debates on there. Thankful that this article is being read widely and praying that there will be a cultural shift as a result.
