Re: what milk to buy?
I would buy whole organic cows milk if you can. Unhomonogized is best if raw isn't an option. Are you sure raw isn't an option? Texas has a lot of raw milk and pretty lax laws.

Re: what milk to buy?
Not trying to hijack, but can someone explain "raw milk" to me. I have seen it, but I don't understand why in my state, people aren't allowed to sell it for human consumption. What are the benefits of raw??
To the OP, Store brand organic is what we do! |

Re: what milk to buy?
i agree-- try to find some raw milk. if not, then whole, unhomogenized organic milk is a good bet. or grass-fed local milk at your store-- we have a couple local labels in my town.
as far as advantages of raw milk, visit http://www.realmilk.com/

Re: what milk to buy?
What Erin said - oh for a 5.00 per gallon source of raw milk! The going rate here is 12.00 I have heard people finding more private sources on places like craigslist etc. yogamom what are some brands of unhomog. organic? We try to get that when cant get raw. We were biting the bullet and paying the 12.00 for raw for awhile but have had a mega hot summer and the lady that brings it drives in a bit and then was sitting in a cooler until we could pick it up and it was tasting just a bit off after only having it for a couple of days so we are waiting for cooler weather again

Re: what milk to buy?
Traditionally and biblically people healthfully drank raw milk from animals like cows and goats that are pasture fed.It has only been since man has started trying to do it on a mass scale and animals have been fed grains and been given hormones and drugs and the digestive enzymes have been largely destroyed by heating the milk and the proteins broken up into smaller particles that can get absorbed too quickly which may trigger allergic reactions in some people that it has become a problem for some people.Traditionally asian people dont eat processed soy, soy beans used to be considered toxic.Sprouted soy beans have a toxic substance they produce that keep animals from eating them and are never eaten raw by asian people - only very small amounts cooked in stir fries.Since soy contains estrogen mimicking chemicals that are potent enough to use in OTC formulas to counteract menopause symptoms it should probably give one pause about eating very much soy in your diet every day.I had my 1st baby at the Farm and they were trying to figure out a higher than average rate of miscarriage at the time happening with the women there. They were eating a diet based on soy at every meal......
