Affresh washing machine cleaner

Quick background-- I'm an anti-mildew fanatic. Ever since I've been married, I have kept my washing machine aired out and have avoided having a stinky machine.

So we came home from 2 weeks away. We had dog/house sitters here the whole time. I see my washing machine, door closed. I run to open it and it smells like a SWAMP. I'm guessing they closed it up every time they did laundry.

I put an entire gallon of vinegar in and ran a cycle. Then two cycles with lots of bleach. Barely perceptible improvement. So I bought Affresh, not really expecting much. But it totally cleaned it in two cycles!!

It works!!

Ahhh!!! I would CRY to see the closed door!!!!

So glad you found a solution! I tried that stuff once when I got a great deal on it and was impressed too.

I just bought a 10kg machine, massive drum. The seal is slightly different to smaller front loaders, and the instructions tell me to clean and dry the seal after every wash and to keep the door closed. I was v surprised at that advice. But there's no child lock on the door, so it's a bit worrying that it looks like a fun place to hide. Maybe that's the reason? I don't keep it closed, and I usually remember periodically to dry out the seal but it's a bit fiddly.
