I have friends who did their own concrete countertops, but I'm not sure if that is what you mean. Some concrete can look beautiful when done well.

That's good to know! I read that it needs to be resealed periodically. Sometimes that kind of advice is overkill.

Partly it will depend on the initial seal. My mom's marble seal is garented for 20 years, if it stains they will replace the marble.

Concrete counters are really tendy right now. I wouldn't want to drop anything on it, though!.

I wouldn't install granite or similar myself. Laminate is easy, though.

The granite I'm getting from Home Depot has a 15-year seal on it.
