Where do you buy vanilla beans for homemade extract - Page 2

Well, I went ahead and ordered a batch through amazon to at least get me going again. My vanilla was SO low!

I made 3 batches out of them for experiment's sake. 1 with the typical vodka that I've always done, but then I did a small batch with bourbon and a small batch with rum. Now I wait... The hardest part.

Light rum or dark? I'm really curious to hear how it turns out; I would expect that to be really tasty, because rum already has vanilla notes, but you never know!

Light. I just used bacardi since it's what was in my pantry.

It's the one that has darkened up the most so far from the beans. I'll let you know how they all turn out when they're ready.
