Re: Decluttering thread!
I've been slowly working on decluttering for a while. I get so overwhelmed with all the kid toys , clothes etc. I hate to get rid of all the stuff they've out grown though. It's hard to know what to get rid of sometimes. Then I don't know WHAT to do with it. I hate trying to sell stuff, it's so much work. I guess donating is best. Got rid of 2 boxes of stuff to the mission the other day though

Re: Decluttering thread!
We went to a kids expo yesterday and I successfully resisted the urge to pick up the little knick knacks they had at every table and only accepted the things like toothbrushes and pens that we'll actually use.
That totally feels like a win- minimizing what comes in to our home that I would soon need to declutter.

Re: Decluttering thread!
I need to declutter. Post move and still have a lot of things I moved that I am thinking I could donate and not miss. Mostly books, some clothes, some kitchen etc. It seems so overwhelming but maybe I could baby step like one box a week or something? IDK.

Re: Decluttering thread!
I guess this isn't decluttering as much as organizing, but I've been lamenting the visual clutter in my kitchen and lack of counter space.
I finally found the perfect shelf/basket thing to get the piles of fruit off our counter. Even dh remarked at how much better this looks/works.

Re: Decluttering thread!
that is very nice! I would be worried about LOs stealing fruit and finding mummified fruit hidden in crevices weeks later but someday oh someday

Re: Decluttering thread!
I finished reading Stuffocation by James Wallman and I highly recommend it. It is a different way to think about things.

Re: Decluttering thread!
I reorganized the playroom last night to make it more baby friendly. Didn't manage to get rid of anything. 3 kids at very different developmental stages makes it extra hard.

Re: Decluttering thread!
I listed a few more things to sell. I am going to ask the boys if they want to sell some of their things they never play with and put the money towards something they are saving for.

Re: Decluttering thread!
I gave a handful of baby things to friends who are having babies. Barely made a dent in the pile, though.

Re: Decluttering thread!
I donated a bag of random junk I pulled from the closet in ds1's room. I cleared a space for some shelves for toys and although I mostly shuffled stuff around, I did manage to fill one bag for donate and fill up the trash can as well.
I am actually just about done decluttering for a while. Still working on school and art supplies, and I need to thin and organize my wardrobe, but other than that I've done so much!!

Re: Decluttering thread!
I have a bag to go to goodwill and threw out half a kitchen trash at full of unwanted/broken/ useless at supplies.
I gave my painting stuff a new home in the house and now have a nice work surface in the corner of the dining room. |
