How to help a 3yo mourn our dying cat?
So our* cat is dying. She is 13+ years old, so basically her body is just shutting down. My older two are taking it in stride as they haven’t really been that close to her, but my 3.5yo is having a difficult time. She’s my sensitive (Type 2) one, and she has known this cat her whole life. Any advice on how to help her through this process?
*The cat was my sister’s, and when she passed in 2012 my parents “inherited” her. We’ve been living with my parents for about 3 years, since my youngest was 5 mos old, so she’s kind of our cat too.

Re: How to help a 3yo mourn our dying cat?
I am so sorry about your kitty.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/0553344021...v_ov_lig_dp_it This book was recommended to me by a friend I trust. It is aimed at older kids but if yours tends towards mature for age, it might be suitable. I wish I had more to offer. |

Re: How to help a 3yo mourn our dying cat?
When my dd was 3 we had to put our cat down due to illness. We worked on trying to explain it but she ended up with her own explanation that made her accept it. She decided the cat needed to live with the dentist... she'd not accept different!
That just to say... sometimes the grief is different than we expect. Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk |
