cleaning/using a shower non-slip mat
We bought a non-slip mat for the bathtub, thinking that at some point soon ds can take baths in the tub, rather than the baby tub. (That's another post for another day, but we cannot get him to just sit down. He must stand up and go right to the faucet, even though it has a cover on it.) We've left the mat in the tub, but it's getting nasty. It has black mildew on the bottom of it, which I haven't been able to get off (though I haven't pulled out any big guns). If you have a mat like this, do you leave it in the tub all the time? I'm guessing the idea is that I need to hang it to dry after every time we shower. I'm not really sure where I'd do that, since it would drip all over the curtain and floor. So tips on both using and cleaning a rubber mat?

Re: cleaning/using a shower non-slip mat
My mom has noticed the same thing, and she hangs the mat up on a rod that's on the wall opposite the shower head (that's meant for hanging washcloths and such). She uses two plastic laundry clips that have a clothes pin sort of clip at one end and a hook on the other and hangs it off the rack that way, so it drips into the tub.

You could always put a laundry basket in there for him to sit in and stand up in.

Re: cleaning/using a shower non-slip mat
Good ideas! We use the other towel rack for a towel, but we could also put the towel on the rack on the door.
Laundry basket, hmmm... I'm going to think on that. I have a square one that would maybe give him a little more space than the infant tub. We have a longer, rectangle one too (well, we use that one but could get another one). I feel like we work on over and over sitting in the tub, so I'm hesitant to let him start standing in the basket. The biggest problem is that the knob on the faucet that you lift to turn the shower on comes apart easily. So far none of the pieces have gone down the drain, but every time ds takes it apart by playing with it, dh has to put it back together before anyone can shower. The boy is no fool, and remembers where that fun knob is every single time! But I can't be giving a 3 year old a bath in an infant tub either!

Yep, we had a non slip mat in our tub for a short time. You have to hang it to dry after every use. Honestly, it's precisely the reason the mat stayed in our tub for only a short time.

I stick mine to the side of the tub with the suction cups.
