Default I want to plant a vine to cover up the ugly underside of my balcony

I don't want it to be heavy and I'm thinking of trying to use jute (I'd just make a criss cross pattern) for it to trellis along. I'm considering confederate jasmine because I love the smell. Not sure how well it will do in the shade, though... It's pretty much always shaded but is not a deep shade, I don't think. Do you think it would be lightweight enough? Clematis could be another option, too.... I'm zone 8.

for someone who knows more about plants than I do. But your idea sounds lovely.

Thanks, everyone! I've been watching the light the past few days and I'm thinking it will work for the area. I just hope it doesn't get too heavy. I know I can put up lattice board, but I think that jute will be easier and quicker to put up.

And NO to morning glory. Haha! It's a perennial here and has already wreaked havoc on my flower bed. I hate it with a passion. HATE it. Love the smell of the jasmine, though...

A jasmine might do nicely! Clematis is lightweight but it prefers sun with roots in the shade. And yeah, morning glory is a pest here, too! But in the area I grew up it does wonderfully and doesn't take over. Interesting how differently climates do so differently. Good luck!
