Default organizing a deep pantry

Or finding something useful to do with it at least. In the kitchen there's a pantry cupboard. It's fairly deep and dark. We've spent the afternoon cleaning it out after an infestation of pantry moths while we were out of town The problem is it's almost impossible to find anything once it's in there. We don't eat a lot of processed foods so it's not full of cereal, boxed crackers, etc. I do keep small amounts of beans in jars in there but the beans are mostly in 25 lb bags in the extra bedroom. It's a huge space to waste though. Any ideas on what to do with it, how to organize it?

Can you paint the interior white or another light shade? Could you take a picture for us?

I have a super shallow pantry, the shelves are maaaaybe deep enough for two cans of beans But I'm finding that using clear bins is helpful for both this and my fridge. I have several of these to gather cans and jars. I have several for baking spices and the like as well. I also added lazy susans and have been surprised at how much I like them. It's been spendy but I shopped mostly at stores like TJ Maxx and Homegoods which means it's been a more on-going project but easier on the wallet.

We have a deep pantry. I use baskets to help organize. Plus lining up food stocks in a line, so like items are behind each other.

We have a deep pantry too and use baskets just like 2sunshines.

I like the idea of painting it a lighter colour

For my bulk foods, I store in big glass or plastic jars or cannisters and have those labelled and lined up in the pantry. If the 25 lb bags are too big for your pantry, but you still have lots of space, could you open and divide them in to two big containers that would fit in your pantry? I like taking my bulk out of the original huge packaging and in to slightly smaller packaging because it makes it more accessible. Not to mention I am squeemish about any sorts of bugs or moths and don't trust the store packaging, especially when it's paper so I prefer to put things in airtight containers anyway.

I also agree with painting a light colour if it's not already. Ours is white and makes a big difference. My dh also installed a couple of lights in there which helps a lot. You can buy those battery lights that just stick to the walls and you press a button in the middle to turn off and on.

Also if your shelves are adjustable I like them spaced further apart when they're really deep. That way even when they are filled, there is still lots of space on top so that i can easily reach over and see and access things at the back.

I keep some of my small appliances in the pantry. I also have clear totes for extra tablecloths, cloth shopping bags, extra boxes of Ziplock bags and rolls of plastic wrap and novelty baking pans. My roasting pan and tin foil pans are also on the pantry. I also use the pantry for the temporary collection of canning jars until I have a box full ready to go to the crawl space where I store my canning supplies. Recently I moved the microwave to our pantry. I didn't want it to have prime kitchen space anymore.

Default organizing a deep pantry

I use the IKEA Trofast trays in my deep pantry to store tins or packets in that are not opened. I can pull out the tray easily, they clean easily. And we have an abundance of them in different places in the house, not just for the actual Trofast furniture. I use them for picnic things, drink bottles, etc, in other hard to access cupboard. I pull out the box, grab the stuff I want and put the box back. Works really well.
