Crying in his sleep?
My DS is 10months--he starts off the night in his crib and when he wakes for his first of multiple night feedings he spends the remainder of the night in bed with us. (we love it!) But this weekend he was waking up and full on crying every hour or so! Anyone else ever had this happen?
We ran into this (but it was crying in pain in his sleep) when he was cutting his first teeth around 6months. But he already has the first 8 teeth...unless he's super early on his first molars?! (but its more of a tired scared sounding cry this time...) Any ideas on what could be causing the crying? Thanks!

Re: Crying in his sleep?
How would I know if he has one? He has been battling a fever since yesterday morning (I am a total newbie at this mom thing...he's never had one before) but he is a super happy kid and rarely lets us know when he is sick...

Crying when laying down, fussing at breast or bottle (hurts to suck), unexplained fussing. How high was his temp? Did you try any pain reliever when he was crying.

That temp is telling you his body is fighting something. Does he still nurse? Can you tell if he's sacking the same or is he fussy at the breast?

Re: Crying in his sleep?
Thankfully, yes, he is still nursing fine. He was sick a few weeks ago and wouldn't nurse (scariest thing ever!) he actually has been incredibly clingy and will only sleep if I'm rocking him and would nurse constantly. And no he isn't fussy when nursing.

Re: Crying in his sleep?
It sounds whatever he has is the reason he's not sleeping. If you have a ped, I would get his ears checked. My ds2 is a sweet, happy guy and had a double ear infection for probably two weeks before it got bad enough for him to really cry about it (he was teething at the time, too, so that didn't help my knowing what was going on with him...) but he didn't stop nursing at all, or become fussy. In fact, he wanted to nurse more, as well as wanting to be on me constantly.
You can try warm garlic oil in his ears, to see if that helps at all.

Re: Crying in his sleep?
Have you read the Wonder Weeks book yet? He's also in the midst of a developmental leap.

Re: Crying in his sleep?
He seems to be feeling much better! Thanks for asking!! He is congested/stuffy sounding in his sleep, but much much less wakeful. He still wakes up crying, but nursing puts him right back out again.
