Please help me talk with Century Link. I know i'm paying too much.

What do you pay?

We pay $44.99 for standard internet (which is up to 15Mbps) with Time Warner; that doesn't include taxes and the modem lease. With all that we pay about $56.

My next door neighbor is paying $24. I've been chatting with Century Link for 60 minutes now. They just keep shuffling me around.

Yes, that includes taxes. That's the amount that comes out of my account every month. I think we are getting some form of discount because we switched from ATT Uverse last year.

We bought our own modem, so we are not paying to lease one.

oh, yes, always buy their 99 modem, never lease one!

CenturyLink was willing to do $31 for 12 months or $36 for 24 months. I hate how they just add a few bucks to your bill and then suddenly is $40 more than you originally agreed to.

He said there aren't many taxes with internet. Mostly phone fees.

That was a huge improvement. Our first year here our only option was Verizon.

It would be a gamble, but I would consider cancelling. When we moved last month, we cancelled our service & re-started at the new location. The new location's cost was almost half.

The representative told me that when the promo rate goes up, they'll extend it for good paying customers. Wish I had known that before.

But then . . .

Before the service date ended on the old residence, another department within the company got my info & called to try & keep the business. They offered a couple bucks under what I got on the new place . . . not realizing we hadn't left the company.

Knowing this is the way they play, it might be worth a try . . .

Our bill doesn't say, but I think we're at 50mbps at $33/mo + taxes. (I don't have a bill yet to know what the final cost is.)

Century Link 12Mps $33/mo including modem rental

We switched to Century Link for a 12 month promo rate and every year renegotiate. It goes up or down within $5 every year, but I'm still paying half their regular rates and less than half than the competitor.

how much is your modem rental? I bought the Century Link modem from them for $99. Not renting.

We just left Century Link at the end of the summer because they wouldn't give me the promo. Until then we had negotiated for the promo every year. I canceled and now we have Charter. $49/month after taxes. It includes 30mbps Internet and nationwide & Canada phone calling. Better service for less money. So glad I switched. The day before our cancelation was supposed to take effect we got a call begin us to stay and offering us quite the deal, but I was done with their runaround and the Charter deal was still better.

Is 3 mps even a thing? I feel like that's what we have, but that sounds so slow! We stream Netflix all the time and it's fine. So weird.

We had a 12 month promotional rate with Xfinity for 19.99/mo internet only, but it just got bumped up to 39.95 after the promotional rate. Need to call and get something changed

I'm not sure. I pulled up my bill and it's not there anymore.

They either stopped charging me at some point, or it's already included in the internet price.

Total bill after fees is $31.94

We were with Comcast until more recently and it was $80-ish a month. We switched to Verizon to save money. I think it's around $40 now. I couldn't tell you the speed. That's my husband's territory.
