Dh is on a "date" tonight...

...with a little girl from our church who doesn't have a father in her life. Her school is having a D.O.U.G. (Dads, Others, Uncles, Grandfathers) Dance at school tonight. Her mother assumed the girl didn't want to go, but found out she didn't ask to go because she knew there was no one to take her. The mom texted dh on Tuesday and asked if he would be willing to take her. If course he said he would be honored to do so!

That's the church being the church.

Yeah. It is in an area where many children don't have dads in their lives.

Dd's American Heritage Girl troop did recently have a Daddy Daughter Dance. It had such patriarchal vibe to it (not just the name, but other things, too) that Dh and I decided they would not attend.
