Tonight's dinner:
Turkey shepherd's pie for the kids. Bottom layer was a mixture of turkey, gravy and veggies. Topped with mashed potatoes. Topped with shredded cheese. Sockeye salmon and roasted veggies for dh and I.

Tonight it's a last-minute trip to Costco for a rotisserie chicken because the brisket isn't going to be done. Tomorrow night we'll have brisket. Not sure what sides to do with either meal, though.

Re: What's for Dinner? Wintry December Edition
Oooh, I never thought of doing greek gyros. We LOVE lamb here... In what form do you buy the lamb? I have a leg of lamb in the freezer. Maybe I should cook that up one day and just plan to use the leftovers in gyros.

After I posted earlier I thought how good it might be to make a Greek gyro bowl using yellow or dill rice as the base.

Re: What's for Dinner? Wintry December Edition
ha! I am partly disappointed because lamb is just SO delicious. BUT beef is far cheaper. So not entirely disappointed. I may try this.

Re: What's for Dinner? Wintry December Edition
DH is smoking two turkeys today IMNSHO, the ONLY way to eat turkey. Roast turkey is not worth eating once you've had it well-smoked. They are for our church's Christmas dinner next Sunday, but we'll eat a bit for dinner tonight after deboning. Planning to make some cranberry chutney and eat last night's leftovers with it. I'll BBL to post a photo of last night's leftovers!
