Whole 30?
I wasn't sure where this belonged and I did a search, but didn't find anything(though I'm sure there are some threads on it). Anyway,my family is thinking of trying it in a couple of weeks and I'd like to hear experiences.

Re: Whole 30?
We did it a couple of years ago and loved it. I had some extreme anxiety the first week or so but I was going through a really difficult time so I'm not sure which caused the anxiety. We ate great food, we weren't hungry (but at the beginning did have to eat more often) and I lost 20 pounds.

Re: Whole 30?
I've done 1.5 (.5 because I found out I was pregnant . . .) and lots of local friends have done 1 or 2. A big factor in your experience is what you already eat. Going from a standard American diet to whole30 is a HUGE change. We had already done GAPS, been paleo for long stretches, etc, so it was all pretty familiar with me, just more strict with the no maple syrup or honey. Are you including the kids or allowing them some off-plan foods? Pregnant or nursing? I was nursing both times and found that required snacks, which are discouraged. And you'll find your own personal carb happiness levels. Sweet potatoes are simply amazing. Other amazing things are big coconut shredded pieces. Finding approved processed meats (sausage, bacon, etc) is hard but not impossible and it is convenient. I found some chicken sausages that were approved that saved lunch several times.
There are lots of blogs out there with tips on how to prep ahead to make it easier. Clean your fridge out to make room for the crazy amount of veggies you'll eat Cook meat in bulk for a few days at a time. I was able to borrow some books from my library that really helped, Well Fed and Well Fed 2 are my favorites for recipes but the original Whole30 book It Starts With Food can be helpful too depending on how big of a change it will be for you. Any specific questions or concerns?

Re: Whole 30?
We currently eat local grass-fed meats..no processed stuff really..the big things I'm worried about are no dairy and no sugar. We use sucanat, maple syrup, and honey and try to limit that. We eat real foods us what I guess you'd call it.
