Recommend a GREAT Rice Cooker
I want a new rice cooker for Christmas. I cannot decide on one. I had a Zojiroshi for years that I gave away when I was moving. I came here and bought an Aroma at Walmart, but I do not like it. After two years, it is in worse condition than the ten year old one I gave away.
HELP!! Something I could get on Amazon, or somewhere else with free shipping would be ideal. Oh....I need a big one. Ten cups is good. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Re: Recommend a GREAT Rice Cooker
No suggestions, but have you looked at the top rated ones on Amazon? There are some good looking (tho pricey!) ones there... We are in the market for a new one too!

Re: Recommend a GREAT Rice Cooker
Yes, I have. I choose one and then let a couple one star reviews change my mind.

Re: Recommend a GREAT Rice Cooker
I don't have any idea. I have a 6 cup black and decker one but I'm convinced there are better ones out there. if I don't unplug mine as soon as it clicks to warm I end up with a hard brown layer of rice on the bottom.

Re: Recommend a GREAT Rice Cooker
We have a basic 7 cup rice cooker, name brand AROMA. I wasn't involved in the choosing of it because it was a gift from a friend at our wedding. That was, however, 16 years ago and we use it regularly and it's held up perfectly throughout all those years.

Re: Recommend a GREAT Rice Cooker
I was going to recommend a Zojirushi. Is there a reason you wouldn't want to go back to Zojirushi?

Re: Recommend a GREAT Rice Cooker
Oh, I would love another Zojiroshi, but I still cannot decide which one. I had one of the simpler ones but I am thinking I might want to upgrade a little.....decisions, decisions....
My son REALLY wants my Christmas gift to be a rice cooker......but I need to choose it myself. I do not like my Aroma at all......... I got used to that Zojiroshi and although there is nothing wrong with the Aroma, I much much prefer the Zojiroshi. We cook lots and lots of rice in our family.

I know nothing about rice cookers but re online reviews there's always going to be a naysayer. If the reviews are predominantly positive I wouldn't let one or two negatives dissuade you.

Re: Recommend a GREAT Rice Cooker
Well, I did not get a rice cooker. I really want a $250 Zojiroshi, but how can I justify that price? My birthday is coming in March......maybe I will request it then although it costs more than what we normally spend on my birthday. I might be able to save up some of the money between now and then to offset the cost.

Re: Recommend a GREAT Rice Cooker
It makes the rice taste like chocolate lava cake, but have the nutritional profile of broccoli. It's a steal, really.
