Default How to make a pot of loose leaf tea

What's the best/easiest way? I've been using my french press, but that only makes 2-3 cups.

Do you have a real tea pot? The easiest way is just to add loose tea & then use a tea strainer when you are pouring it.

Here's a great article on brewing loose leaf tea

http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...kes.html?cat=5

I have a bamboo strainer, it fits over my mug You can also add the sweetener as you are steeping your tea and it gives you a perfect cup of tea

I put my tea in a tea ball and put that in the pot. I usually add more like 2 tsp to the tea ball (vs the 1 that I would put in for a cup of tea). I love loose leaf tea!

We dump the loose tea in the boiling water but don't strain it out.

I don't like my tea to over steep (I also drink Darjeeling almost exclusively and it get bitter really bad really fast) so I will steep my tea in a pot and strain it as I poor it in to my tea pot or I will steep in one tea pot and strain it into another one.

I have a great tea pot with a strainer insert, so I don't need to strain when I pour. What kind of tea do you drink? If it's green you might want to try the Gong Fu style of preparation, it's much better than simple brewing. But for black tea I love having a teapot with a strainer. Otherwise I am happy to use a strainer over my cup as I pour.

I often dump it in a tea kettle after it's done boiling, and then strain it out. Sometimes I make it in the coffee maker (and it works just as well).

I tend to just dump my leaves into a cup and pour hot water on them. Then I wait and add the milk. That is how I drink my Earl Grey Tea.

Which reminds me, it's nearly tea time. I need some tea now. I lost my tea ball sadly. It's at a job I was working at so I hope someone can get it back to me. I need that for English Breakfast because all those little leaves are a pain to drink.
Plus I need it for when I make elaborate iced tea using my orange pekoe tea that is loose and delicious. Loose tea has a stronger better flavour.

This is my recommendation. You want to look for one with small holes though.

Where can you find a teapot with a strainer? The ones at Teavana look cool (like this), but they're plastic, and I don't want to make tea in a plastic teapot.

I have a glass teapot from Bodum. I didn't like the strainer that came with it, so I bought a gold one from Swissgold. Lemme see if I can scare of links.

Here's my teapot - http://www.amazon.com/Bodum-Assam-4-...1786543&sr=8-1

I think this is my filter - might be a different size though - http://www.amazon.com/swissgold%C2%A...1786634&sr=1-3

One of these might be a good option for you. I really like Swissgold filters. You don't get any leakage with them. Of course, good quality whole leaf tea helps with that too.
