made some really good muffins for my picky boy. I didn't really measure but here's what I used:
dry:
ground raw almonds
ww flour (bout 1/2 cup)
organic rolled oats (about 1 cup)
some oat bran
baking powder
baking soda

wet:
banana
apple sauce (steamed apple w/skin)
blackstrap mollases
lots of sesame seeds & flaxseeds ground
frozen pineapple
raisins
cinnamon
ginger
cloves
nutmeg

shredded beets, carrots and zucchini in the vitamix, then mixed everything together in a bowl & added cocoa. baked at 325-350 ds and dd loved them
going to use coconut flour next time and add dates.

It honestly sounds like you're getting lots of protein but NOT enough fat . What you listed for breakfast has a little bit of fat (the CO) but nothing else there is fatty.

Speaking for myself (not kids) would a spoonful of coconut oil be sufficient amount of fat if I felt I weren't getting enough?

I took my old favorite crockpot chili recipe that used almost all canned ingredients, and substituted fresh ingredients. It's in the crockpot now for lunch tomorrow. I'm half excited, half scared to see how it comes out

I wrote down everything in it and how I prepped it all, but I won't share what I did until I try it tomorrow Then I'll probably post it and critique it Might not be till Friday... Busy couple days coming up... I'll at least give a thumbs up or down tomorrow

Fresh produce, ground beef, dry beans, and spices are the only things in it!

I wish I could afford all organic meat. I feel guilty everytime I buy regular meat at the store. I tried going back to vegetarian for a week or so, and it didn't go well. I don't know what changed with my body, but I NEED meat to feel normal. The other day I started feeling a bit shaky, like low blood sugar, until I chowed down on some pork chops. I felt great after that. Back to Primal I go.

I had some yucky food days while we were gone on our family mini vacation.

So, my mom is here this week, and she's mostly vegetarian... Do you all have any ideas of what I can plan that will be least offensive to her while still keeping with primal stuff? I have to grocery shop today. I'm planning on making simple curry tonight to use up a bunch of the veggies I have...

The eggs have about 20-25 grams of fat, plus the CO, plus a few grams in the "milk" for my coffee. Seems like a decent amount for just one meal to me.

That's always been my understanding about quinoa as well but every paleo/primal person I know lumps it in with grains and stays away from it. *We* restrict it b/c it's so pricey.

I think hydration may actually have something to do with it. I've found that when I'm not getting enough fluids, I crave sugars and grains more.

How is she with fish? You could do a simple salmon with grilled asparagus and something else (sweet potatoes go well, if you're able to have them)

Can you do beans? I can't ever remember if primal or paleo or neither can have beans?

I read somewhere that a 160 pound person on paleo/primal or GAPS should be getting around 112g of fat

I'm pretty sure I eat WAY more than 112g of fat a day - I weigh about 160 and wear a size 8. I don't have weight to gain or lose. I am pretty solid (i.e. not flabby) and I'm content with my figure. . . . so I feel comfy giving thoughts on this

Someone asked about a spoonful of coconut oil to boost fat. Whenever I was hungry in the beginning, I ate a spoonful of coconut oil (probably 4 to 7 times a day). I found it REALLY helped me to not be hungry constantly. Now it's evened out but it may be the way I eat too. . . I eat a large pat of butter on 2 to 3 things per meal plus I cover my eggs with coconut oil and cook with it and of course add it to foods, cover my chickens with it, etc. I try to pour olive oil on my food every meal. You get the picture right?

We probably go through several pounds of butter a week and almost 1/2 Gallon of coconut oil a month.. . not to mention avacados, coconut butter, olive oil, etc

No wonder I'm struggling over here - plus I'm tandem nursing too. I felt much better when I was eating gobs of cashew butter, coconut oil, butter, etc. but we cut out dairy and I don't know that I made much effort to replace all the butter I used to use . I've gained weight whereas I was about your size a few months ago. Thanks!
