i need a salad recipe that travels well FAST
I have to buy the ingred today, assemble it on Christmas eve (thurs) and take it to my SILs house -- so it has to be able to sit for a few hours although I can add the dressing there.

Broccoli salad
2 broccoli crowns 1 small onion, dcied 1 cup cheese, shredded 1 cup raisins (soak in hot water first) 6 strips of crisp bacon, crumbled Toss ingredients. Add dressing. Let sit for several hours. Dressing 1/2 cup Miracle Whip or similar 4T sugar 2T vinegar Whisk together. Stir into salad.. Seriously I take this to every potluck, get together, church dinner, what have you. It is AWESOME, most everyone loves it, it keeps well, and tastes BETTER if sits at least a few hours or overnight.

I always love green salad best, and I make a sweet (as in good) maple syrup dressing that you might like given it's more natural ingredients.
2 1/2 oz cider vinegar 3 tbsp real maple syrup 1 tbsp dijon mustard 1 clove minced garlic pinch black pepper 2 1/2 oz olive oil mix well and drizzle over salad before serving. I generally do lettuce/mixed greens and mixed peppers. This always goes over really well. |

Re: i need a salad recipe that travels well FAST
Any veggies chopped and mixed with Italian dressing and left to "marinate" overnight are an instant hit. I've used canned corn, kidney beans and green beans before. you could use any veggies, really. Even raw.
Sprinkle with bacon before serving, if desired. EASY and YUMMERS!!!!!!!!!!
