Please share your beans and rice ideas

I like to cook any of the following in my crockpot, no soaking, just pick out rocks, rinse clean (wash) then put in cp and cover with plenty of water , add a slice of bacon and cook all day on low.

black beans
pinto beans
white beans
red or kidney beans.

We eat whatever kind of bean I cook with either rice or cornbread and a salad. or I'll slice romaine and serve that on top of the beans and rice with cheese and sour cream, salsa, whatever. We also eat hot sauce here on ours. I LOVE putting pintos on top of tastadoes and then putting sliced lettuce and fixins on top.

I also like to cook lentils on my stove top. Then I'll season them with taco seasonings of all kinds and serve them as tacos or burritos. Lentils are fabulous this way. Or serve them with rice.

OR, take the lentils and just salt them and put them in pasta sauce and serve over noodles.

OR, use the lentils in place of meat or with meat in sloppy joe mixture.

I also like to put drained smashed kidney beans in my meat loaf.

I put black beans in my taco soup.

I put white beans in my chicken chili.

I LOVE to cook split pea soup. That is seriously the best soup there is. Just washed split peas, some carrot and onion, water. cook till tender and mushy. Then salt and pepper and serve with sprinkle of cheese and sour cream or scallions.

Garbonzoes are another bean that we LOVE. I make hummus from them, or put them in a skillet after sauteeing onion and rotel together and then let it cook down and boy that stuff is GOOD. You can put eggplant in that too, plus or minus the green chilies..but you have to have tomato and onion to go with the garbonzos and the eggplant. Don't even get me started that is the best stuff!!!!!
