Re: Mamas that are "Messies" Support Thread
I am surrounded by "cleanies" too! And what I want to know is, why is their way the best way? I mean, if I filed everything away and had it closed up in drawers, I could not find *anything*. I know this because I have tried it! I work with a cleanie and she is always "straightening up" the front desk where I work and when she does I can't find a thing and it drives me nuts.

Re: Mamas that are "Messies" Support Thread
OK, so I am really discouraged right now.
I really, really want a clean house. I get on edge with clutter, too. I can't function in a messy house, either, thus we have been just below adequate-functioning for a long time I take somethig with me when I leave a room, too (I even try to pick up stuff with my toes if I am wearing the baby) It doesn't help. Nothing helps edited to remove a sarcastic comment

Thank you for trying to encourage me, but no, no it doesn't. I started this thread ages ago, way before my third was born, and this has always been a struggle for me. I am so sick of being this way. All day, every time I walk into another room, I am uttering to myself "I am not my messy house, I am not my messy house" to keep from having a panic attack.

Okay, my problem is lack of organization and too much computer.. I'm tired of having a messy house, but I'm tired of cleaning it too.. I'm ready to hire someone but I can't.. |

Really, if I posted pics you ALL would feel so much better. AandNsMom, I wish I could help you...not that I would be much help because I tend to be clutter-blind.

Re: Mamas that are "Messies" Support Thread
I totally understand! I like having my house clean too and I function better in a clean house also but it's not always that easy. I *can* function in a messy house though. Maybe I should consider that a strength.
Some things have been making it easier for me. Mostly getting rid of a ton of stuff but I get discouraged because every time I put something away, someone comes along and messes it up. I wish I had the answers |

But the really sad thing is that it is an improvement over a few days ago! (or is that a happy thing?)

Re: Mamas that are "Messies" Support Thread
OH! And to think that I thought I was the only one out there who thought that a bomb had gone off in my house. I am a messy thru and thru and I hate it. I just get so overwhelmed that I shut down. We are trying to go thru every room in the house this week during spring break, to just get rid of stuff, but as soon as we get one room done another gets trashed. I feel that the only thing that I do all day is follow after the kids asking them if they picked up what they just got out. Frustration level is high!!!! They usually do pretty well, but this week has been hard to get them to focus and finish a task. Oh well. Off to pick up the kitchen and do laundry.

Re: Mamas that are "Messies" Support Thread
Welcome Momma of 7!
When I first saw you and your kid's ages, I thought you were my best friend from High School that also has 6 DD's and 1 DS, but her oldest DD is not 16 yet.... She is a messie, too, but she lives far away from me.

Hi AandNsMom,
It is great to know others have large families. That is cool that your high school best friend has the same as me. I grew up in Florida and have just moved my messiness all around the country. |

Honey, I don't know how you can have a family of 7 and *not* be a messy!! That's awesome that you have so many wonderful blessings, though - really it is.

Re: Mamas that are "Messies" Support Thread
Guess what!!
Today a friend came over for a playdate w/ her two children. As soon as they got here, the kids went out to play and she and I cam upstairs to fold laundry. She insisted! We folded and sorted a basket of baby clothes that had been sitting in the hall since C was 2 weeks old! The clothes now are in their "homes." She also folded this huge basket's worth of sheets that have been sitting around forever, and they are now in the linen closet. We put a bag of clothes together for Goodwill, too. Then, she did a lesson on England for the children and we then had a tea party, with food that she brought, and then she did the dishes and wiped the table down! The whole time I am just holding my sleeping baby and nursing him. I felt so encouraged! And she saw my whole messy house!
