Default Do you have a vacuum that you love? Tell me!

I barely ever vacuum anymore. It just feels like such a waste of time. My vacuum isn't doing a great job, it is too much effort to get the junk off the floor, + my kids just make a mess again instantly. But I used to love vacuuming. I think I need to get a new vacuum and get inspired to keep the floors clean again before this baby starts crawling. Our house is all hard wood, except one rug in the living room. The rug is especially a pain to clean with my current vacuum.

Give me your suggestion

Shark Rotator Lift Away, although I never use the "lift away" feature. It's the best vacuum I've ever used. And I've used Kirby, Oreck, Dyson, Hoover ...

Yup, get a Shark!

Seriously, I've had several vacuums, and the Shark is my favorite. We got it when we still had a Bassett Hound that shed constantly and in great quantities and the Shark could handle her mess. That was 6 years ago, and it's still working well.

FYI, we have a similar set-up - mostly hardwood floors with a couple area rugs in the living room that seem to attract more than their fair share of dirt. I vacuum both types of floor.

We only have carpet on the stairs and an area rug in the living room. Two big dogs, two cats, and four kids who play in the woods all day. Lots of dirt. My Shark handles it beautifully.

I've had an Electrolux Green canister vacuum for years. It is best suited to hardwood but does fine on the rugs, and it's light enough to move around easily. We have allergies so I wanted the HEPA. I had it long before we moved, and even though the new house has a central vac I almost always use the Electrolux.

If money is low, I got the cheapest red Walmart vacuum. It does a great job, even after almost 2 years. It was like $45

I have a $20 yellow vacuum that picks up the crumbs and dog hair. I'd buy one of those and make your children vacuum 3X a day. Well, it was $20 when I bought it!

I also have an Orek that works very well. I use that one on the carpet and sometimes on the wood floor (it works fine there too and has a different setting for bare floors.)

This is what I do currently with my semi-broken cheaper vacuum. It is just that when I really want to feel like the floors are clean, none of my current vacuums (or vacuum operators) seem to do that for me.

We have a Kirby (bought used) and it is so stinkin' heavy I would never recommend it if you have to carry it up and down stairs. It does a really good job, though.

We have the same one, and I love it! (ironically though we received it JUST after we left our all-carpet home to an all wood-floor house, other than area rugs) However, I will admit that we wouldn't have been able to afford buying it...I actually won it on a blog giveaway! Previously we had a Eureka that worked pretty well and I was happy with it, but it was obviously not the top of the line.

Another vote for a Shark here. It was horrifying how much dirt was still in our carpets from the old vacuum I thought was doing such a good job.

Yes to the Shark Lift Away! I got one just before my second was born and that thing is amazing. It's so light an maneuverable that my 22 month old helps vacuum the living room! The suction on the thing is amazing too. I never realized how dirty my carpets were staying until I got that thing.
