Re: Do you have a vacuum that you love? Tell me!
I bought the Shark Liftaway after reading suggestions on this board several months ago. I'm so glad we did- thanks for the recommendations, ladies! It's super light and really gets a ton of dirt out. Sometimes I look in the canister and think no way-it must somehow be generating extra dirt to make me feel satisfied that I'm doing a good job.
It's light enough that my 4 year old loves to help, I had to limit him to only twice/day

Re: Do you have a vacuum that you love? Tell me!
I must of had a lemon in regards to the shark, I didn't like it much. The short hose on mine annoyed me. I just got an Electrolux canister, it was pricier than shark but I really love it. I got it on an open box thing on amazon. It's super light and has a long hose. I love the suction control, works awesome experience on kids little car rug.

Re: Do you have a vacuum that you love? Tell me!
Is the Shark vacuum good for allergy sufferers? We are in the market for a new vacuum as well and since my son has various allergies, we wanted one with a HEPA filter.

Mine has a HEPA filter and one of those Allergy Foundation seals of Approval, but is bagless. (I know bagless is supposed to be bad for allergy sufferers, but I'm the only one that empties it, and I don't have allergies.) DH and a couple of the kids have outdoor allergies. We haven't had any issues, if that helps.

Re: Do you have a vacuum that you love? Tell me!
I have one without a hepa filter, which I worried about because I do have bad indoor allergies. It's not been an issue. I think it's because it vacuums so much better than the vacuum I had before which did have hepa (but my allergies were worse with it). I will empty it, but I do so outside, and it's not a problem.

How do you empty a bagless vacuum?

Re: Do you have a vacuum that you love? Tell me!
There is a canister on the vacuum that holds all you vacuum up. With my Shark, you detach it by unclipping two latches on the side (they are very secure, won't come undone accidentally) and lift up. Then you unlatch the bottom and empty it into a garbage can or bag or whatever. Then you put it back together. With my Shark, you can wash the filter which is under the canister as well, so no extra garbage, other than the junk you vacuum up. The canister is also clear, which is nice when you accidentally vacuum up your child's legos. (but then I make them dig for them!)

My Shark is a sealed system, it's supposed to be better than HEPA.
I bring the garbage bag outside and empty the canister outside. |

Re: Do you have a vacuum that you love? Tell me!
Thanks for explaining that to me. Soliloquy, I saw that you have a Shark Rotator, is that right? I see there is a Shark Navigator Liftaway being recommended as well. Is there any specific reason you went with that version of the Shark brand? Also, is it the Rotator Professional one?

Mine is a Shark Rotator Lift Away. It has the word "professional" on it.
I have never used the lift away feature, though. The vacuum is very light and maneuverable on the stairs. This is the one I have Shark NV501 Rotator Professional Lift-Away Vacuum Cleaner https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0091JG0LY..._mUTbxbM5FXGMH |

Re: Do you have a vacuum that you love? Tell me!
Another Shark fan (ours is an older model, not sure they still sell our specific one).
Do you have a Costco membership? They have several Shark models and if you hate it they have the best return policy. I often buy things like vacuums and small appliances from Costco because of their generous return policy (though the prices are usually quite competitive, too).

If dyson is in the running, I saw one on Groupon for half off the other day.

Re: Do you have a vacuum that you love? Tell me!
I love my Dyson stick vac for routine daily clean ups. It's accessible in a living area, always on charge and my house would look v different without it. I have an older barrel vac, also a Dyson, that really is a special event these days.
