I don't want to get sick!
Ds woke up this morning with sore throat and headache. I am not feeling sick but there's this roughness in the back of my throat. I don't want anyone to be sick for Christmas!
What's your go-to to stop a cold in its tracks?

Re: I don't want to get sick!
Right at the beginning I can usually stop it in its tracks with a cayenne hot shower. Take 15 drops of cayenne extract (or just some hot sauce) and put it in some water and drink it. Take the hottest shower you can stand and then take more cayenne when you get out. Bundle up and try to take it easy the rest of the day.

Re: I don't want to get sick!
If you think it is the flu, start oscillococcinum right away. Also colloidal silver is great for throats. I second the elderberry, vitamin c and vitamin d. Drink lots of fluids to flush it out.

Thieves oil rolled on my throat, elderberry syrup, and tons and tons of water and hot tea. Gypsy cold care by Yogi is my favorite

Re: I don't want to get sick!
I don't think it's the flu. Thankfully it seems rather mild. I am out of Vit C so I'm glad to get some other ideas.

Re: I don't want to get sick!
I have been warding off illnesses the last couple of months by taking 10,000 IU of vitamin d3 every day when I feel like I am fighting something off, and 5,000 IU on the days I feel fine. Plus taking this supplement on top of that https://www.amazon.com/Nutribiotic-D...6814681&sr=8-5
I have literally had people cough in my face, and this combo seems to be keeping it at bay. I have added some elderberry syrup on top of that when it seemed like my body needed even more of a boost.

Re: I don't want to get sick!
When I feel that "feeling," I usually take a capsule of Echinacea and a capsule of whole food Vit C every hour. That usually stops it in its tracks. Usually the second day, I reduce it to every other hour, and then if it has continued to stay gone, I reduce it to 4x daily the next day.
That said, sometimes I get that "feeling" right before bed, and then I don't wake up and do the hourly thing, and it's too late by the next morning.

Re: I don't want to get sick!
If you can gargle without swallowing any...
Gargle with the hottest, saltiest water you can, as frequently as you can, until your throat feels normal. You can also gargle with DILUTED hydrogen peroxide. Do NOT use full strength...it will make things worse.* Add at least an equal amount of water to be safe. I prefer to water it down weaker than that...about a half cup of water with only a capful of peroxide. It's nasty enough at that strength...be prepared to rinse with a lot of plain water afterward trying to get rid of the bubbles. But it kills some of the germs not susceptible to salt water, so it's worth it. Oragel also makes a peroxide-based mouthwash for canker sores that is at the right strength for this. Do not mix those together. Just alternate between them on different trips to the bathroom, or at least rinse well between them. That usually prevents or cures most sore throats, esp. starting early. I've only twice had it be too severe to work, in all the 20+ years I've gargled, even though I'm really susceptible with allergies and sinus issues and such. If you catch it early enough, it will stop the whole cold from settling in most of the time...if the germs have already spread elsewhere, it will at least knock out the sore throat symptoms in less than a day.

Re: I don't want to get sick!
Raw garlic has always worked well for me. I just take a clove, chop it up into small enough pieces to swallow easily and take it with a glass of water.
I also take Vitamin C and Vitamin D.

Re: I don't want to get sick!
run outside.
srsly. I started running about 10 years ago. Every time I feel sick coming on a good run outside kicks its butt. I imagine any sort of good strong exericse has a similar impact.
