Natural versions of glass and furniture wipes?
In HTCI she talks about placing wipes in various places all around the house to make it easy to grab them and clean when you have a brief moment to spare. My kids LOVE to use baby wipes to clean, but they don't always work for everything because they aren't made for cleaning. I don't like the chemicals in most cleaners though. But I love the idea and I could really take advantage of the kids' enjoying doing this, because dusting is one of my most disliked jobs. So I'm about to break down and just buy the chemical-laden wipes unless someone has a recipe for making my own? Or a more natural brand than I can find at Walmart?

Maybe just microfibre cloths and a spritz of water?

Yah, that's basically what I do when I dust, but when the kids use water, they use too much. They really like using wipes.

Re: Natural versions of glass and furniture wipes?
I've let them use baby wipes before, and I could just keep doing that. I don't have any really expensive furniture, but I do have one thing that would probably benefit from some actual furniture polish instead of baby wipes. And it used to seem like baby wipes did fine on the tv, but the last time they did it, it just smeared stuff around more. Maybe they just didn't do a good job... I should go try it myself again. That's what I use on the computer screen.
Maybe I'm over thinking this.

Re: Natural versions of glass and furniture wipes?
Here are a couple recipes I found online for furniture polish. I'm not sure how well they could be made into wipes.

i think most multi surface wipes you can use on furniture, and there are plenty of natural ones out there. i don't know if there are any furniture specific ones out there tho. but i would think if you use the regular wipes and then every so often just use a regular oil or natural furniture spray it would be fine ---------- Post added at 01:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:40 PM ---------- http://housewares.about.com/od/stora...nfurniture.htm ---------- Post added at 01:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:42 PM ---------- http://housewares.about.com/od/stora...nfurniture.htm they are super expensive on amazon for some reason but target or walmart or the grocery store usually has them cheaper

Re: Natural versions of glass and furniture wipes?
Method do non-toxic cleaning wipes. We've had them for the bathroom before, and I'm 99% sure they do other kinds. You can get them on Amazon, and probably other places I don't know about
There's probably a way of making your own with paper towels or something Can you get these over there? http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Produ.../?id=271345753 They're dry baby wipes, made to be used with water for newborns. They'd hold up better to being left wet than paper towels because they are the same material as normal wet wipes. I'm thinking of doing something similar to pre-wetting cloth wipes. Making a solution with a squirt of soap in water with essential oils, wringing them out and then keeping them in a box? I used to be able to keep my wet wipes in an air tight box for 2-3days before they'd start getting funky smelling |

Re: Natural versions of glass and furniture wipes?
What about those blue shop towels, cut in half and soaked in a natural solution? Maybe in an empty wipes box? With some essential oils so they don't get stinky? If you only did a couple days worth at a time, it should be ok... Hmm. I might have to experiment...

Re: Natural versions of glass and furniture wipes?
My kids and I also use the microfiber cloths. We have the ecloths from Amazon. to avoid using too much water I just have them wet their hands then dry their hands with the ecloth. That's all the water needed - it's enough to keep the dust from flying around and does not make a mess that way. The smooth glass cloth is magic on glass. You do have to wash the ecloths separately so they don't pick up lint. I bought 2 sets but that is an investment (I paid $20 per set of 5 as I recall.) One set is over 2 yrs old and still going strong.

Re: Natural versions of glass and furniture wipes?
I use old towels cut into strips and just put some vinegar and water on each
