canister vacuum recommendations for under $300
Our Kenmore canister vacuum is barely sucking anymore. We've tried taping the hose for leaks. It is 18 years old and has been wonderful until 2 months ago. I figure based on its age it's time for a new one.
I like to vacuum our kitchen floor (laminate) more than sweep. I don't feel like sweeping really cleans it well. (not that I'm a clean freak though) But I"d also like to vacuum the living room carpet, etc. our canister vacuum has a hard floor attachment and it's as simple as pulling the canister around. When I try to use the hard floor attachment with our Bissell (? pet version) upright vacuum I can hardly reach with it and it tips over constantly. and incredibly loud as well. I'm not sure if all upright tip over all the time if using the hose on hard floors but I'm thinking they would and that we should stick with a canister. any recommendations? those that you like or those that you don't or can give cons on? I read the thread with all the shark recommendations but they don't seem to have a canister vacuum- I think the canister snaps off but you have to carry it?

Re: canister vacuum recommendations for under $300
This Shark has a caddy you can put it on so it's like a canister vacuum. But it's sold separately in a $99.99 upgrade. Buying the upgrade that includes the caddy would put you over $300.
I'm following because I ha.ven't bought my vacuum yet.

Re: canister vacuum recommendations for under $300
My mom has a miele canister vacuum that she loves. It has separate hard wood and carpet attachments.
