Woohoo! Gave the two huge marble lamps I've been holding onto for my aunt (for a year) to my mom so she could take them to my aunt. My downstairs now looks so much more "clean" and less cluttered.

Annnnnd got rid of a ton of old teaching files that were duplicates or old student things I don't need anymore

Worked in the play/school room more- gotta clear it out so we can paint and recarpet it. Did a bunch of organizing in the laundry room. Baby steps.

Threw away a bunch of junk and put about a dozen things into the donate bag.

I listed some items on craigslist and a facebook garage sale site. Not sure if any of them will sell though.

Me too. It's gone into the garage for a yard sale that unlikely to happen. And now the garage is cluttered!

I have stuff in my garage for a future sale too. I just got a card in the mail from one of those donation places that will come and pick stuff up. The card is on my desk. I just need to go through the stuff again and see if there is anything I can offer for free on our neighborhood facebook page and then I need to schedule a pick up.

I'm not sure why, but somewhere inside me it feels easier to part with the stuff if I get money in return. Like I'd rather have the money than the stuff, but if I can't have the money then I want the stuff to give as friends or we may potentially need. Does that make sense? I know it would be good to give it away....but there's so much! But the stuff makes me mad too!

Gutted, cleaned, and organized the school room this weekend. Threw out stuff, recycled a ton of paper things, filled two boxes of things to donate.

Then I worked on boxes that had never been unpacked when we moved. A year ago.
So far I've finished three from our bedroom and 5 others that were in storage downstairs. Mostly it was pictures and wall decor stuff. I'll make a plan, hang pictures and donate things that just aren't my style anymore.

I have lost all energy and motivation to do more than survive. But I managed to go through the book shelf and sort out everything and have a huge bag to donate. I went through the kitchen and got rid of two big stock pots I never use. I am going to deal with under the kitchen sink in a few minutes and see if I can manage one more cabinet before I hit the gym.

I wish this didn't resonate so much with me. I keep organizing and shuffling stuff instead of getting rid of things.

I haven't posted here yet but had a few good decluttering experiences lately.

My kids are going to a new school (as in brand new- it was just built) and the school was asking for donations of kids' books, board games for indoor recess (on bad air days), puzzles, etc. We gave them a bunch of stuff.

Also I had to buy ds a new car seat (he's only 20 months and outgrew it by height for rf so I either had to turn him ff or buy a new seat) and I was going to keep the old one around "for emergencies" (emergencies that were bad enough that I wouldn't mind ff him, I guess) but decided to ask around to see if anyone wanted it and I found a young couple having their first child and the car seat was a huge blessing to them. That kind-of opened my eyes to the fact that the stuff that's cluttering up my house might be something someone else really legitimately needs and would be very grateful for. So I'm looking around with a more critical eye now.

That's one of the few things that stuck with me from when I tried to do FlyLady. My stuff could end up being a real blessing for someone else. Makes it easier to get rid of.

I got DS1 to go through a box with his old art projects and school papers to get rid of stuff. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much he got rid of!
