Re: INSTANT POT owners!
I use mine at least three times a week. I would probably use it more, but right now I am very uninspired to try new things, or even think at all when cooking so I often just do things "the old way" out of laziness. But I love the IP for oatmeal, beans, spaghetti squash.
I also still use my crockpot for bone broth and I haven't tried much with meat in the IP.

Re: INSTANT POT owners!
I am very intrigued by the instant pot, but only if I can replace other appliances. I have a yogurt maker (with a timer that automatically shuts off after a specified time) a crock pot (which I would use more if I remembered to start it cooking in the morning), microwave (use all the time but would love to get rid of), toaster oven, George Forman grill, ice cream maker, electric tea pot.
So, of those appliances, which ones can the instant pot replace? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: INSTANT POT owners!
It can reply the yogurt maker and slow cooker for sure. Nice thing with the IP is that you can still cook things if you forget to start it as a crock pot in the morning. Things cook quickly under pressure! I cook from frozen all the time.

From frozen?!?! Really?!?! One of my biggest problems is forgetting to thaw stuff. How does that work?

Re: INSTANT POT owners!
Ok a friend of mine loaned me her instant pot to try out and see if I want to purchase my own.
So now I need your fave tried and true recipes to do my trial with. Specifically I would love anyone's oatmeal recipe. We do lots of crock pot oatmeal. http://gentlechristianmothers.com/co...73#post6010373

Re: INSTANT POT owners!
Steel cut or rolled? Did she give you the recipe booklet? It has the instructions for all the basics. I'm trapped under a nursing baby otherwise I'd go get mine.

Re: INSTANT POT owners!
Is there only one brand of instant pot? If there are others, which is the best brand?

Re: INSTANT POT owners!
Instant Pot *is* the brand name. The generic name would be "electric pressure cooker" I believe. And there are lots of brands of those, Instant Pot being one.
I have only started researching but it appears that Instant Pot is one of the best.

Re: INSTANT POT owners!
So, talk to me about how you clean it...
Is there a removable pot to wash like normal crock pots? Is it dishwasher safe? Does it FIT in a dishwasher? Does it get stuck on? What's the inner surface made out of? Can it go in the fridge holding leftovers? The worst crock pot I ever owned and rarely used was this awful one-piece unit that couldn't be washed under running water, just scooped empty and wiped out with a damp sponge. So, from experience, if it's a pain to clean, there's no way I'd love it. Everyone's nuts after dinner getting ready for bed, so I need something I can chuck in the fridge or sink to soak or straight into the dishwasher.

Re: INSTANT POT owners!
It has a stainless steel removable pot. It can go in the dishwasher.

Re: INSTANT POT owners!
Yep.
I have cooked multiple things in it already and have had nothing stick. Super easy clean up.

Re: INSTANT POT owners!
I haven't read the thread yet, but I'm following. I'm close to buying one, but I'm just not seeing how it would change how I work in the kitchen. I mean, I don't mind putting the crock pot on in the morning and letting it go all day. So I'm not sure I "get it."
I can see how it would come in handy for travel, but the one trip I do have coming up is by train/taxi. I don't think I want to lug that thing around. DH suggested my electric skillet instead, and I think that will be better. It's lighter anyway. So I'll lurk here!
