Kindle Fire vs. ipad vs. other tablets?
Hi y'all,
My mother bought me a Kindle Fire for my bday. However, I have an old Kindle already, and reading on my iphone gives me eyestrain. I borrowed my mom's Kindle Fire, and that gives me eyestrain as well. (Mom is very open to just giving me money so I can buy the device of my choosing.) I'm sort of thinking that I'd probably get more use out of an ipad, but I may have to give up that idea anyway because of the eyestrain issue. I realize that is probably a huge topic, so I'd definitely welcome a GCM discussion. I'd also love links to existing discussions about this very thing. I think that if I just had a Kindle Fire, it would be rather useless because of the eyestrain thing and the fact that I would still be doing most of my reading on my old Kindle. But I'm trying to decide if I had an ipad or similar tablet, would I use it and how and how much? Currently, I use my iphone, my computer, and my old Kindle. I've been really dying for a tablet, but in order to save my eyesight, I've quit doing much screentime on my iphone. Now I'm wondering if I'd really use such a device at all. Thanks for any help with this!

Dh really likes the new Gogle tablet coming out. The Nexxus 7, I believe. It's on sale for $250 for the 16g version. The 8g is $200.

Re: Kindle Fire vs. ipad vs. other tablets?
I just got an Asus Transformer TF300 and love it! Avoid the Prime at all costs, a better version (the Infinity) is coming out soon. The TF300 was cheaper- $400 as opposed to $700 or$800 and it has 32 GB. You can also get a keyboard dock that turns it into an Android netbook. The main differences between theTF300 and the Infinity are that the Infinity camera has a flash and the Infinity screen has super IPS which means a screen that can look good even on the beach. I got the 300 because I didn't want to wait until the end of July and did not think the improvements were worth the extra cost for me. Now if I planned to use it outside a lot or cared about the camera that would be another matter.
I was going between this and the iPad for a long time. Android is more customizable, ios has more apps. But the android store has a lot of apps too. I would suggest going to Best Buy and trying out several tablets.

Re: Kindle Fire vs. ipad vs. other tablets?
I have a nook. I hate it . I feel bad that I hate it, because dh was trying to get me an awesome present. It is not awesome . EVERYTHING on it costs money (such as apps that are free on every other tablet). Its web browser is tempermental and crashy. The books for it are expensive. In summary, get anything but a nook .

Re: Kindle Fire vs. ipad vs. other tablets?
I have a Kindle, and a Kindle Fire. I use both of them, but the fire more often. I prefer my laptop for normal internet stuff because of the keyboard. I can type faster. If you are worried about eye strain though I am not sure there would be much difference between a Fire & another tablet.
