My cat, Frank, needs prayer, please - Page 2

Thank you! We gave him the medication. phew! It took us, oh... I guess about 50 minutes to give him all four of them. Ugh! The last one we gave him was really hard for us to get him to swallow.

And it was weird to see his personality change as we gave him the different medicines. The medicine really zapped his energy and made him unusually calm and lethargic. It appears that he's on two calming meds, one pain killer, and an antibiotic. I'm going to see if perhaps we can stop giving him the second calming med (it says sub for zanax on the bottle), or maybe at least a reduced dose of it.

I called the vet this morning because Frank just would *not* take his pills, and they said to go ahead try giving it in his food. I squash it up between two spoons to make powder and stir it into his food, and it's working great! It such a relief.

They also said that we only have to give him one calming med and the antibiotic.

Regarding the medication that was making him so tired, they thought that was probably a reaction to the medication, because apparently it's not supposed to do that. Anyway, they said that's not the most important one, and that I could stop giving it to him.

Anyway, he's so happy! It's so wonderful how happy he is.

I just wanted to let you guys know that Frank is still doing well.

We are almost done with the antibiotics.

I'm supposed to only give him wet food, which he has always loved, but silly cat has been really, really wanting dry food! He's been eating the wet food

. . . he just doesn't get so excited about it like he used to.

I'm sitting here at the computer with him sleeping on my lap.

That's so great he's feeling better!

I just went through the same thing with pills - it was sooooo hard to give them to my cat, no matter what tricks and techniques I tried! (And it's so stressful!) I could get her to take one of them in her food, but not the other. She would refuse the food. We tried "wrapping her up like a burrito", blowing on her nose, stroking her throat, a pill shooter, etc. Nothing worked. They finally had to give her shots instead.

Oh, dear! It really does sound like you tried it all! It's so stressful when they won't take it!

I'm glad they were able to give her shots.
