Strep?
My DH just diagnosed with strep throat. how can I protect myself and the kids? The kids 4 & 2, have never had anabiotic's and I would like to keep it that way. Any suggestions? I have been giving them elderberry syrup for the last couple of days and we have been keeping up on our vitamins. Is there anything else I can do?

Re: Strep?
It is very rare for kids under the age of 5 to get strep. I'd just take regular percautions with them. For you, I'd gargle. Is he on abx? If so, he's not contagious after 24 hours on them. If not, he's contagious for up to 2 weeks (and more if he's a carrier).

Re: Strep?
Wash the remotes, door knobs and light switches or anything else down with either THieves oil or Lysol wipes.
You could put some bleach OR vinegar in your dishwasher and run it on the hottest setting to kill the germs. Also, don't forget to replace your Husband's toothbrush. |

Re: Strep?
We seem to have had luck gargling salt water and spraying (diluted, of course) antimicrobial EOs in their throats. My kiddo didn't have any symptoms beyond a sore throat so I was comfortable waiting on the abx (infection confirmed by culture). It was maybe three days of gargling etc and nobody else caught it, so I guess it worked.
