Re: Tooth decay is there any genetic component?
Yes, I think there's a genetic component. I have my dad's teeth. No cavities AT ALL until I was in my 20s. And I sorta brushed as a kid. Sorta. But I never had a cavity as a kid. By the time I was in my late teens I was brushing faithfully cuz boys. And that's when I started getting cavities.
Out of my 4 kids with teeth, only 1 has had cavities. He doesn't brush any worse than the rest of them. |

Re: Tooth decay is there any genetic component?
Yes, I did not brush that thoroughly or floss, but didn't have cavities until I was 21. My dad has tons of dental work and gold teeth. My mom has better teeth, maybe a couple of crowns.
