Hormone support?
I have noticed for the past several months that the day before my period begins I am a raging banshee. This doesn't happen any other time, and probably has something to do with my age and perimenopause. Suggestions?

Re: Hormone support?
I saw my doctor and got levels tested and ended up going on progesterone. I just couldn't take it any more it was like I was only my normal self a week and half out of the month. It has helped a lot.

Re: Hormone support?
I would get a urine hormone test. The urine test is the only full panel. I had one and learned that not just one of my hormones was out of whack, but a tiny bit of a handful of them.

Re: Hormone support?
I'm a hormone zealot. Progesterone and Estrogen have made a huge difference in my life. I have an appointment to see a specialist and am going to get everything tested because alas you can't get testosterone over the counter and I think mine is super low. It's probably good to get some hard numbers and a professional opinion anyway.
In your situation you could buy some progesterone and estrogen on Amazon and experiment, or you could get tested and see a doctor. I would only trust one that specializes in bioidentical hormones, not just a regular endocrinologist/GP.

Re: Hormone support?
The most important things for hormone balance for me are sleep and stress management. I also thought I might be perimenopausal at one point, however I had some very annoying hormonal issues resolve just by focusing on those two things.

Re: Hormone support?
I take progesterone cream that I buy at a local health food store. It resolved a number of the issues I was having, including the massive anger/irritability that I had before my cycle.

Re: Hormone support?
I'm just about to do blood tests for hormone levels. I am suspecting low oestrogen and maybe perimenopausal. But I also think I need to get more sleep. A lot more, and I've had the most stressful year of my life so far I think this year.
