Balancing adolescent female hormones
You know how adolescents struggle with stormy, unpredictable emotions. The outbursts and the weepy meltdowns. What I'm wondering is, would herbal supplements help nurture them through those phases? If we have herbal support for menopause then it seems like there should be something for adolescence. Maybe tulsi extract, or another gentle adaptogen. Any thoughts?

Re: Balancing adolescent female hormones
Evening primrose oil is great at toning hormonal stuff down and not age specific.

How would you use that with a tween?

Re: Balancing adolescent female hormones
This is a great thread.I have long thought there needs to be a tween formula like that. I have seen blends of tea like red raspberry, oatstraw, chaste berry for hormonal support.maybe something like that would help

Re: Balancing adolescent female hormones
Thank you guys! I really appreciate the ideas.
I started reading up on EPO. Can anyone post a link to research showing that EPO is effective for balancing hormones? The four studies cited here showed that EPO was not more effective (or only marginally more effective) than placebo. But if there's better research out there, I'd like to know. Thanks http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/263027.php

Nutrition wise getting healthy fats on board like coconut oil and avacado and Omega 3s - cod liver oil. Im not sure if EPO had lots of Omega 3s or not

There's b vitamins for mood. I've been taking vitex to balance my hormones but I'm not sure it would help a teen.

Re: Balancing adolescent female hormones
Something I was reading recently recommended Tulsi tea for at least the week before menstruation, but fine to drink all month, for all ages. So I got a few different varieties and we've been drinking it iced. We haven't been consistent enough about it to know if it's really helping, but I figure it can't hurt, and we like the flavor
