What do you know about shower filters?

The water here is disgusting. All the locals say not to drink it, and there's a really REALLY disproportionate number of girls to boys in this town, which I can only hypothesize comes from the water. We already drink RO water, but it squicks me out that my kids are bathing in that nasty water. Especially because they drink a considerable amount of it while they're in there (see their ages below.

).

So what do you know about shower filters? Is there something in particular for me to look for? I see that they all remove chlorine, but I really want them to remove more than that as well (the water in the bathtub is light brown.

) I don't have a ton of money to spend, but I want to keep my kids safe.

I have berkey shower filters, but not sure what all they remove...

My mil has a ball that bath water runs over when she runs a bath... I'll try and remember to ask her about it for you.

I bought one and I couldn't tell you for the life of me what it is, but I'll install it soon and let you know. I got it from showerfilterstore.com. (They have a .com for everything, don't they?)

only that i have an awesome one

it's april showers filter, with a hose shower from waterpick attached to it (they fit standard sizes).
our kids have eczema and it helped immensely.

also, newbie was born into filtered water, how awesome is that

lasts for a long time, replacement cartridges are reasonable. we are very happy with it

I don't remember it being called that on the website but that's what the sticker on the box says.
