Re: The official Cal Mag thread
I know that you are supposed to take calcium citrate and I have no problem finding that at the store, but what about the magnesium? The only form of magnesium at the store is magnesium oxide, which I heard wasn't good. What form of magnesium are you suppose to take for the best results? And where do you get it?

Re: The official Cal Mag thread
I've FINALLY got some cal/mag, been taking it for about 5 days. 3 pills make up 1000/400 but I've been taking them all at night becuase the last thing I need during the day is something making me tired, kwim?
Is that not okay? I"d never remember to take them spread out, I dont' think. (And ftr, yes, I do forget to eat meals during the day too)

Re: The official Cal Mag thread
I don't know anything about the different magnesiums.
I take all my cal/mag at night. It is the best time to do it. |

Re: The official Cal Mag thread
Yeah, it's carbonate. I never even thought to look. I just went "oh cal/mag, how cool".
Is that not as good?

Re: The official Cal Mag thread
carbonate *can* cause constipation. It does in me. But a lot of people don't have any problems with it. So if it is working for you I wouldn't worry about it, but if you are having problems switch.

Re: The official Cal Mag thread
Oh, no, not constipation at all. LOL. So I guess it's fine, then.

Re: The official Cal Mag thread
This is why I avoid it, Allison said, "There are different kinds of calcium. I never recommend Calcium Carbonate (most kidney stones are made out of this) Calcium Citrate doesn't make stones for most people like the Carbonate does."
post 90 something in another thread.... I don't think I can post the link here....

Re: The official Cal Mag thread
Sorry if this question is elsewhere in the thread. I don't have time to read through all of them right now.
I just bought some calcium citrate w/mag from Costco, but 2 tablets only give me 500 mg Calcium. So, do I just take 4 of them to get 1000 mg, plus the 200mg that are in my prenatal vitamin? And, do I take them all before bedtime? Lastly, do I have to worry about too much Vitamin D or Zinc (because they're in there too)?

Re: The official Cal Mag thread
I'd take 4 at bedtime & the prenatal in the morning-- the iron in the prenatal makes the cal pretty useless iirc.
