FYI: Fixing CDs, DVD, Wii disks, etc
Perhaps I'm a noob and others know this, but I discovered yesterday that a store called "Vintage Stock" can take the scratches out of a Wii game.
Our Super Mario Brothers for Wii was really scratched. I googled up some home fixes and none of them worked. Took the game into Vintage Stock and within 5 minutes they fixed it. It looks brand new and plays beautifully. Cost me $3.25 with tax. Unfortunately, I remember now why I felt relief when it initially stopped working. The kids spent a lot of time snarking at each other last night when one would take the power up the other wanted. |

We have the. same. problem. here.
With the snarking, not with the scratches. How do you recommend I scratch up our game? Our library does this on book sale days. It is a fundraiser for the library. |

Re: FYI: Fixing CDs, DVD, Wii disks, etc
Oh, that's easy. There are a few ways to do that.
Option 1: Allow a toddler to play with said media storage device. This method rarely fails. Option 2: Allow a boy who tends greatly toward laziness to remove said disk from the Wii and, due to the aforementioned laziness, watch him decide that it is too far to walk the 10 steps to the shelf to get the case and put the disk in a movie case that happens to be laying there...with the movie already in it. If all else fails, put the disk media side down on the garage floor immediately adjacent to your tires. Run over it. Put the vehicle in drive and proceed back over the disk. Repeat until you feel that enough damage has been done. |

Ways To Scratch Disks
by me, age 38. 1. Place disk under your feet on the kitchen floor. Use as a skating device. 2. Play frisbee with disk, and make sure when you pick it up from the floor that you drag it a bit. 3. Never use the DVD cases, and if you must, don't bother snapping it in the holder. Actually, just push that part out. It's fairly easy to do, and the little plastic pieces are fun to scatter all over the living room. If you absolutely, positively must use a case, make sure it's not the right one. That makes it more fun when it's time to watch the movie. 4. Always place the disk face-down when you set it on the TV stand or the shelf. 5. Make sure you wipe those fingerprints off with newspaper or something nice and scratchy. Cheap kleenex is good, cheap TP is even better. Make sure you wipe AROUND the disk, not from the center out. That makes the scratches nice and long. 6. Give the disk to your little 2 year old brother. He likes shiny things. Better, he likes to *chew* on shiny things. If he gets slobber on the DVD, never fear, see #5. The end. This list may or may not have been inspired by true events. |

Less than $30? IDK for sure - I got it in a gift exchange and that was the limit.
