Re: Ikea cubes vs. walmart
I have two sets of IKEA cube storage units. We don't have an IKEA close to us, either, so I searched for used ones online until I found one. One was given to us, one I found on Craigslist. I got regular cloth cubbie inserts from Target.
I do not have experience with the ones from Walmart, but I can't see them being all that much different. I love them. We are moving, and I am not taking much of our current furniture, but I am definitely taking the shelves!

Re: Ikea cubes vs. walmart
Costco has them, sometimes, too. And Target. Worth looking around. I would also comparison shop at Amazon.
