Immune support for Covid
Ladies I'm too tired to research. Dh, dc, and I are all covid positive. We have been taking emergen c since symptoms started. My aunt is telling my mom we should be taking a bunch of supplements but I don't trust her judgement. So if you have researched this and feel confident in recommending immune support supplements, What would your recommend?
Also what have you heard/read about quercetin? TIA |

Re: Immune support for Covid
I just for over a virus.
I took 50mg zinc 2x a day. I'm feeling much better and dropped it to once a day. I was taking 2000mg of vit c a day. I've cut back to 1000mg. If I hadnt run out of vit d3 I would have been taking 10,000ui of vit d, then backing off to 5000ui per day. Vit a I take about 5000ui a day when sick I don't usually take it when not sick unless my numbers show low. Not everyone needs vit a. Echinacea is another good option for viruses. None of this is corona specific, it is what I do for viruses in general. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk

Re: Immune support for Covid
I work take zinc with a meal if you are eating but it will hurt your stomach if you aren’t used to taking much so try starting around 20 mg twice a day and see how that goes.
Vitamin C to bowel tolerance and Vitamin D at least 5,000 IU. Not immune related but I would take Mucinex if possible to thin secretions and keep them from getting sticky in the lungs. Drinking lots of water will help with that. I wouldn’t do anything like echinacea or colloidal silver personally because I have a history of autoimmune reactions and this virus likes to try to hijack the immune system to use against people. So I would stick more to immune support. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Immune support for Covid
YES, to querqutin. 500 mg, 3 X a day for a week, then once a day is enough.
Zinc, 50 mg, daily. 50,000 IUI of Vitamin D for two days then drop to 5,000 a day Personally, I'd take sodium ascorbate or lypospeheric Vitamin C at 1,000 mg every hour or two or until bowel tolerance. I have never gotten to bowel tolerance. I've given all four to my kids ages 3-13. I wanted to make sure they could take the querqutin prior to being sick. Son needed food. Daughters seemed fine without. I was fine without food. I emptied the pill capsule into 3 spoons, so my kids didn't actually get 500 mg. They weren't sick either, so I don't know if I would have just given them that much. Above was for you. For my kids, I'd do: Querquetin, 1/3 capsule, 3X a day 25 mg zinc (pill splitter, then mashed into applesauce) 500 mg of C every two hours (my kids have had this much before, but we use lypospheric C, not emergen C) 2,000 or 5,000 D a couple of times a day for a few days to a week Truthfully, my kids kick things in 12 hours to 3 days. They are rarely sick. We've been big on C at first sign of illness since 2014. Most people do not use enough. Dr Humphries changed our lives. My 71 year old mom uses it now too, and she's been getting better in 2-3 days too whereas her friends stay sick for weeks. She's sold. Rest. Less screens. Our MD said to limit stimulation during illness. I may also do a homeopathic remedy if I have the right one at home or can get to the store. I can link to C and D studies for covid. There are dozens already. It's very effective both as prevention and as a treatment.

Re: Immune support for Covid
I don’t know about side effects but we avoid quercetin because it contains sulfur and C and I are sulfur sensitive. It’s in a lot of allergy formulations and sulfur donors make out allergy symptoms worse. Google says it can cause headaches, upset stomach and tingling in arms and legs. It says very high doses over 1 gram daily could cause kidney damage.

Re: Immune support for Covid
It really stinks to have to make decisions when you're sick. I'm so sorry you're in this place. Prayers for a quick recovery and for wisdom on what is right for *your* family.

Also if you want to discuss infection protocol when you have to be caretaker let me know. We have 1 positive, 2 pending, 2 asymptomatic— dd1 is quarantined alone but now Dd2 is sick and a minor and we r taking care of her. I’m using hospital infection protocol minus the googles n95 and contact gown. Aka bleach and rubbing alcohol, how to handle garbage and bodily fluid trash etc. we even have a protocol for using our toilet and glove removal. I don’t think I realized how much us rubbed off on me from working on a Covid floor “For the record” we r doing vitamin C, D, zinc . And if taking melatonin or other supplements before this we r continuing.

Thank you all for the advice. I wasn't sure whether my aunt knew what she was talking about because she is one who has posted mountains of conspiracy theory type stuff on Facebook and I wasn't sure if she had really done her research. I went ahead and had dh and I take the quercetin 400mg, zinc 50mg, and vitamin d 5000iu my mom sent over. I'm just going to have the kids continue to take the emergen c. I might have them take it twice a day instead of once but their symptoms seem to be a little milder. Dh and I will also continue to take the emrgen c for vitamin c. Thankfully for now it just feels like a really nasty cold/flu. ---------- Post added at 07:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:02 PM ---------- Thank you. I had heard of vitamin c, d, and zinc being good for getting rid of viruses. That's why I've had everyone taking emergency c, but I had no idea what quercetin was and I also hadn't heard of taking such high doses of vitamins. I started trying to research but there's just too much info out there and then I remembered a post here from the spring mentioning things like that in regards to covid and thought I'd ask here. |

Re: Immune support for Covid
My SIL and her family had it in July. Vitamin C, Vitamin D3 (you'll also want magnesium gluconate to get that to absorb well). She recommended a HOT epsom salt bath every day the first week HOT as you can stand. Apparently the hotter you can keep your body (beyond a fever, I wouldn't get in a hot bath if you're dealing with fevers) the less lung issues people in her church dealt with. My BIL got it from his sister and all he had was a headache and lack of appetite and scratchy throat for 10 days.
My Brother and his family (family of 6) also had it in July it was out of their house with in 2 weeks and they didn't do anything special. If we were to get it we'd start 1) vitamins 2) bone broth 3) elderberry syrup (but only the first few days) 4) rest rest rest and fluids.
