Looks like they're denying it but it also looks it did happen.

If you've used Instacart, check your financial accounts and freeze (not lock) your credit!

Also, instead of one free credit report per year, you can now get one free credit report per week at https://www.annualcreditreport.com/index.action through April 2021. Even if your credit is frozen, but especially if it isn't, it's good to pay attention to your credit reports so you can clear up anything that is false. Some people are being reported late on federal student loans even though there is forbearance right now.

What is the danger of someone getting the last 4 digits? I check my card frequently, but wondering what else truly needs to be done.

I'm just glad that I lost me debit card and had to cancel it.
Not using them again unless they allow Privacy cards.

I would keep an eye on your transactions for that card, but only have them change the number if you see a problem.

It also includes "other personal information" which means someone could call your card issuer and potentially have enough information to have a new card issued or do some other havoc. Sometimes it is enough to get into other accounts, too. It's not nearly as bad as other data breaches but it's another reminder to freeze your credit and check your reports for false info.

And change your password on instacart and any site that shares that same password.

I suggest using something like LastPass, so you aren't using the same password on several platforms.

I heard on a consumer podcast that while CC numbers normally go for pennies, the info from this hack is selling for $2 per customer. Because instacart customers tend to have more wealth and because of the kind of info.
