Yeast rash?
Have a rash I have been battling for a couple months.. Started pink on my breast but the spots have now turned tan.. under my breast they are brownish. When it first stated it itched.. now it only itches under and when I am sweating. Went to the Dermatologist twice and first she said yeast.. then said "maybe eczema" it is a little scaly on the both sides of my breast but mainly moist. Just wondering if it is yeast because my LO (4 mos) would sleep on my chest when he was first born and before I realized I had this rash... Well he has a tan spot on his face that is spreading. What can I put on my breast that is safe to treat while breast feeding.

Re: Yeast rash?
You can use gentian violet or grapefruit seed extract (or at least that is what I was told 5 years ago when I had yeast). You can also get a prescription topical anti-fungal, I can't remember what it is called. And of course, be sure you and your LO are taking probiotics internally.
Have you checked your nurslings mouth? Usually thrush will be living inside there too, and then you keep passing it back and forth. Also, make sure it's not an allergic reaction. I had a rash on my breast that I thought was yeast, turns out I'd developed an allergy to wool and I used wool nursing pads!

Re: Yeast rash?
I had a bit of yeast under one breast. I was told to just get over the counter lotrimin. I was also told to dry very well, since yeast likes to grow in hot, wet places.

Re: Yeast rash?
You can do gentian violet but it will stain everything it touches.

Re: Yeast rash?
I know everyone says not to do it but I use corn starch to keep things dry. People say it feeds the yeast but studies haven't shown that to be true and in my experience it isn't. I've seen it clear up a painful yeast rash in a day. All the yeast rashes I've seen have been red and prone to bleeding though.

Re: Yeast rash?
Thanks been doing coconut oil for a while... I think that is why it is no longer itchy. But still patches of tan and brown.. Any idea how long till they start to fade?

Re: Yeast rash?
Did you wash all of your bras in vinegar to kill the yeast? If not, they are coming out of the dryer with yeast still on them and you may be reinfecting yourself on a daily basis. Lots of vinegar - do a bra soak in vinegar water and then wash normally. A week or a few days later, do it once more. Use coconut oil every evening (assuming you go bra-less to bed) and wipe it gently in the morning with a dry kleenex or square of TP before putting on powder and your daytime bra. If you are doing it right (and got the yeast in the bras - that's usually a culprit to an infection continuing for a long period of time), it should be significantly better within 4-6 days, and gone within two weeks.

Yes
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk ---------- Post added at 01:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:22 PM ---------- Google tinea versicolor. I'm wondering if that's what it is, though it usually presents as the opposite of tan.. Spots that don't tan or are lighter. It's fungal. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
