Safety of China Dinnerware and other Dinnerware...
Anyone have any idea how a person finds out if a particular set of fine china or dinnerware contains any dangerous substances in it... like lead, etc.
This in particular: Noritake Crestwood Gold set: http://noritakechina.com/crestwood-gold.html And Corelle dinnerware: http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/corelle-.../6000012972984 These are what I have at the moment and will be using soon, and wondered if they are safe or not but am having a difficult time finding any info on the net. How does one find healthy dinnerware that is free from any bad stuff... Thanks in advance!!

Corelle is supposed to be a great choice! I use made in the USA glass dishes (anchor Hocking brand). It's very hard to find safe ceramics.

Safety of China Dinnerware and other Dinnerware...
Wasn't there something about Corelle's plates, like it was lead free, but they couldn't guarantee that the paint they used was (at least in the past, maybe they are better at sourcing it now??), so there all white ones were okay, but if there was a design on the plate, then you couldn't be sure? I think I read that somewhere. I thought it was on gcm.

We have glass dishes from Ikea, but they seem to have discontinued them recently. I read on some blog about a mom who bought one of those at-home lead test kits to test her Ikea stoneware and found that it was totally lead-free. It might be worth it to look into the test kits.

Environmental Working Group.org is where I check some things, but I can't find dishes listed.....maybe someone else would have better luck.
