Essential oil dillution rates
So I found a chart on a website and was excited about it but I'm not sure it is right. For example according to the chart 9 drops of skin 1oz carrier is 1% .but another page I have dillution rates on says 6 drops in 1 oz is 1% and 12 drops is 2%. Yet another recipe said 8 drops is 2% What is going on? What is correct? Help please.
edited to add the chart now that I'm at the computer https://essentialoilblogging.files.w...tion-guide.jpg

Re: Essential oil dillution rates
I don't know that it is an exact science. Most oils just get diluted by what type of oil I am using. If you are using a specific brand u could look at there site for dilution rates, or just Google the oil.generally speaking I use a drop or two per teaspoon.

Re: Essential oil dillution rates
Vintage Remedies teaches that 6 drops per oz of carrier oil is 1% dilution. It also mentions that different oils are slightly different due to their varying consistency.

Re: Essential oil dillution rates
A "drop" is never an exact measure. There are bigger drops...and there are smaller drops . How much a drop is, depends on how big the hole at the bottle nose is. And how thick the oil is.
Perhaps you can go by the instructions given on the bottle, anyway. The manufactures probably knows how big the drop is that comes out of their bottle . |
