Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
I've had cat bites and scratches that didn't cause any problems and they did *not* look red like yours

Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
I can't do it today; it would have to be tomorrow I'm not sure if I should take any antibiotics that I have on hand in the mean time. I almost never take anything at all.

Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
Don't take anything you already have. It is probably not the right kind.
That looks really red to me. I'd probably go in. If you don't have time to go in, you really don't have time to stay overnight for IV antibiotics. I have a friend who had to do that from a cat scratch because he waited. Go to Urgent Care if that's fastest. Last edited by Soliloquy; 10-08-2015 at 12:15 PM. |

Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
I'd get it looked at ASAP. If you take the abx, remember to do preventative care for yeast for you and baby! I got a yeast infection when c was littler and we both had it passing back and for a month!

Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
Please please please go have it looked at My brother had to take abx because our cat bit him growing up. Cats mouths are FILTHY and bites, as other posters have said, are VERY prone to infection. Praying you heal quickly!

Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
The bite looks okay but the redness has spread really far and that's concerning. If there is any way to be seen today, please do it.

Please do whatever you need to do. If it gets worse you could wind up inpatient. |

I had a bite nearly cost me a finger and I was in the er being seen in an hour. It still doesn't work quite right, feels numb/rtngly often, etc. Go in. It' won't take long and urgent care should do.

Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
How are you? I am praying. We had a child need antibiotics due to a dog bite Because we did it quickly, it was open and closed - the antibiotics worked quickly. we saw improvement within 24 hours.

Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
I am going to get antibiotics. Hopefully that will be enough. I came clean to dh last night shortly before we went to take mil to the airport. I left out a bottle of amoxicillin. He asked if that med was for his mom (mil takes a ton of meds for her heart and blood pressure) or L (multivitamin with fluoride chewables). I showed him my arm and said that I need to be seen because Ginger bit me. He said, I can't live without you; I swear if that cat hurt you... and trailed off.

Re: my cat bit me; do I need to see a Dr?
You really need to see a doctor. Different bacteria need different antibiotics just like different poisons need different antidotes. Amoxicillin probably won't touch this. Every minute you tarry gives these bacteria more time to multiply.
