I have the same setup 2sunshines has.

Ours is by the entryway. There's a box for sandals and hats and gloves on top.

I'm hanging sheers with tension rods at the top. The closets are the type that there's a rod from left to right and you hang one solid row of clothes and that is the whole depth of the closet. (It's kind of funny how difficult this is to describe, lol!) I mostly hang shirts, jackets, and only have a couple of long things - bathrobes, long coats, business pants hung at half length. I can keep the long things to the side pretty easily, so I'd have room for maybe a two to three tier shelf at the bottom.

I also could do those little cubby things that hang, but I've tried them before and would have to work with myself to use them better.

Oh, and I have some wooden, built in shelves at the top, but the tip top one is hard to access. I have some shoe boxes up there right now and I have to tip them vertically and shimmy them in. I can only see the bottom part of the boxes when they are up there.

Erin, I'll see if I can get some sort of image of the entry, but at this point, we each keep our shoes in our respective bedrooms (except for maybe one pair we kick off at the door). So I'm mostly looking for ideas for in my closet or bedroom.

Those are all so cool!
I think then you need to look at the short shelves for under your hanging clothes. Do you have lots of tall shoes?

Nope, not a lot of tall shoes and no boots (sadly! ).

I have one of these at my back door. The big man shoes fit in it. Plus, you can buy more of them and connect them. We have to have places at the back door for the winter because of snow. It has held up for maybe 5 years. It still looks new and it's pretty easy to wipe down with a Clorox wipe.

We have a carousel rack, as well. It is outside in the warmer weather and inside during the winter.

Here is the carousel rack.

Oooh, I like that. I like how it has air flow (we have moisture problems here with all of the rain) and that the lip isn't on the bottom two shelves so that would help with getting things in and out. (The one I have now is sideways.) It sounds like yours hasn't rusted?

I also like the shoe carousel idea - it looks like it would keep dust and pet hair out of shoes very well. Is it kind to your shoes? Are they in a good shape when stored like that? Do you think it would work with size 11's like mine?

The first one hasn't rusted which surprises me. Its kind of a platic fake wood and the metal is coated. It stays inside but It has been treated pretty tough and we used in Washington as well as here. So, it's had it share of rain and snow. I bought ours at Costco so if you have access they may have them still.

The carousel one does adjust so I can get the big guys shoes on two racks but then one rack is small. You can, also, toss hats or wet mittens on the top if needed. the carousel does have some rust in spots but then it's been outside a lot.
