Re: juicer vs blender?

I started looking at companies in the mall that make smoothies. Some use Vitamix--some use Blendtec. So I think either of those is a good bet. Apparently their professional versions are both acceptable. I assume it applies similarly to their consumer versions. |

Re: juicer vs blender?
I had a Ninja, and while it was better than a regular blender it did not produce smooth smoothies. We got a Vitamix a few months back, and it is awesome! We got with the dry container, and one day for Christmas party prep I grated cheese, chopped nuts, and chopped bacon! I also make peanut butter in it, which nearly killed my ninja. And, it is super easy to clean.
I would recommend getting it at Costco (if you want the dry container wait for a vitamix road show). If you use it for three months, and decide your use doesn't warrent the price you can pack it right up and return it to Costco since they have the best return policy ever.

this is a review of both by friends who each use one of them - along with links to buy refurbished, etc. http://simplegreensmoothies.com/blendtec-vs-vitamix

Re: juicer vs blender?
I have both as well and love both. They serve very different purposes in my day to day life. I use my juicer regularly, 2 or 3 times a week. I enjoy starting my morning off with a green juice before any food enters my digestive system. I actually prefer fresh green juices over smoothies but the smoothies are a lot easier to make. If it wasn't for my preference for green juices, I don't know if I would have had the commitment needed to continuously use my juicer!

Re: juicer vs blender?
There was something I read in a thread here &/or product reviews that made me think Blendtec was better, at least for my purposes. I wish I could remember. It might have been something that the person ended up returning the Vitamix for and getting the Blendtec and she liked it much better. I read the comparison AoL posted, but that didn't jar my memory. I still don't have either, but am reading along for when we have the $.
