communion bread?

I am toying with the idea of asking if I can make the bread for communion at church every week. Right now they have those little oyster crackers. Anyway, I just thought it would be a nice meditative practice for me. BUT, I need a recipe! I have found lots online, but I would like to start with something tried and true. I want to know I can make a decent bread before I ask the church if I can do this...

I make ours. It has taken a long time and lots of experimentation to get it just right.

I use 600g strong white flour, 360ml warm water and 7g yeast. I mix and knead it in the breadmaker then take it out and shape it into 3 small loaves. Prove for 1.5hrs in oven with fan and light on then take it out and baste it with melted butter. Bake at around 200 for 22 minutes.

It depends what size of loaf you want, whether you do unleavened or not and whether you use a whole loaf or pieces. We use the whole loaf broken in half and then people break their own piece off. That is why I need to baste it with butter. If you don't the crust is to hard and crusty and crumbs go everywhere. HTH.
